PCI continues its partnership with the National Biodiesel Board to educate Americans on the benefits of biodiesel.
Real American Stories for NBB’s Advanced Biofuel Acceleration Project
Biodiesel is not a new energy source, but many people are still largely unaware of its benefits. You likely interact with it in your daily life without even realizing it. Biodiesel is, in fact, powering commutes, heating homes and offices, and improving environments in communities throughout the country. And this year, we’re making sure people know its benefits and uses.
For the fifth year, the National Biodiesel Board (NBB) is partnering with PCI to educate the public through the Advanced Biofuel Acceleration Project. Biodiesel is a renewable, clean-burning diesel fuel replacement that is reducing U.S. dependence on imported oil, creating jobs, and improving our environment. It is made from a diverse mix of resources including agricultural oils, recycled cooking oil, and animal fats. This year’s national, multi-media campaign, “Coast to Coast,” will use radio, television, print, and digital to demonstrate how biodiesel impacts people’s lives throughout America. To capture biodiesel’s story, PCI hit the road.
Our journey took us from St. Augustine, Florida and Jefferson City, Missouri to the energized streets of New York City, the red-rocked desert of Sedona, and San Francisco’s Golden Gate — all in the spirit of showing Americans using biodiesel. The educational campaign seeks to build grassroots support for the alternative fuel dubbed “America’s Advanced Biofuel.”
Market research taught us that, while many people may have a positive feeling about biodiesel and grassroots awareness of its use, they do not understand how it is relevant to them. This has been a difficult hurdle for NBB and its stakeholders to overcome. That’s why this year’s TV spot, print ads, and microsite will tell true stories of Americans who use biodiesel in their everyday lives. These people recognize the environmental, political, and economic benefits of diversifying our energy supply and have reaped rewards through using biodiesel in their communities.
The truth is, biodiesel is a practical answer to problems and worries relevant to consumers and policymakers. More of us can enjoy these benefits by demanding biodiesel be brought into our neighborhoods’ energy mix. The “Coast to Coast” campaign will inspire such movements and help NBB tell the compelling stories of biodiesel use.
