PCI teamed with RTC to plan and produce “The Battle of the Brands” at Washington DC’s 9:30 Club. Under the first-time partnership between the two area agencies, the 2014 American Advertising Awards became a rock music-inspired evening celebrating the superstars of the advertising industry.
From the moment guests arrived at the legendary concert venue, they were immersed in a rock-n-roll experience. The staging, the lighting, the music all created an electric atmosphere that was a departure from past awards shows.
The night’s headliners were this year’s winners — a long list of work by a long list of agencies. In keeping with the program’s theme and aesthetic, PCI produced a pulsing hour-long video celebration, set to iconic rock anthems that touted the awardees’ achievements. Comedic video vignettes following the hair-raising antics of a classic ’80s hair band announced each major category and provided a break amidst all the awards.
With platinum-worthy stagecraft and a rocking video production, PCI and RTC’s premier collaboration was worthy of an encore.
